Amber Light
Amber Light
Amber Light is an exceptional coffee grown by Silvano Hidalgo on the heights of Huehuetenango, in the village of El Paraiso, Guatemala . Located at an altitude of 1790 meters, the Las Camelias farm benefits from a unique environment, ideal for producing coffees with a delicate and nuanced profile. This microlot comes from the Caturra and Catuai varieties, which give this coffee subtle notes and aromatic complexity, characteristic of the mountains of Huehuetenango.
Acquired by the Hidalgo family in the 1950s, Las Camelias is the result of a legacy and passion passed down through two generations. The plot, formerly part of a larger farm, became the property of Don Silvano in the 1970s. Inspired by his passion for gardening, he named it “Las Camelias” in homage to this elegant flower, a symbol of refinement and eternal love, which still adorns the farm today. This love for plants is reflected in the meticulous care he gives to each stage of his coffee cultivation.
This batch of Las Camelias is processed using the fully washed method, where ripe cherries are carefully selected to ensure consistent quality. After an initial washing step to remove floaters, the mucilage is dissolved during a water bath fermentation. The berries are then patio dried for 16 days, a method that ensures optimal flavor development.
Silvano Hidalgo is a dedicated producer who continues the family tradition while incorporating modern practices for quality and sustainability. Since taking over the farm, he has been committed to preserving the exceptional terroir of Huehuetenango and sharing the unique flavors of his land through his harvests. Each cup of Las Camelias is a reflection of his passion and family heritage, delivering a refined coffee that vibrates with the soul and richness of the Guatemalan mountains.
By enjoying Las Camelias, you participate in the history of this family and the timeless beauty of this land.
